Even the White Whale(s) that were defeated, those were mabeasts as well, and they appeared much after Episode 11. Regardless, no, they simply killed the mabeasts that were locally plaguing THAT particular village. Mabeasts? I don't recall there being mabeasts in this episode. Weren't they all killed in episode 11 and Subaru wasn't cursed anymore? So, where did the mabeasts in this episode come from? I don't why in this episode there were mabeasts. I don't have to experience something myself in order to know if someone's acts or emotions are off. Put all three things together and you get unintentional comedy. Can you share your experience in being possessed? :D Reading their lines only (without the VO+weird movement), they do seem ridiculously psychotic, yet menacing at the same time. The fingers act so ridiculously that it's impossible to take them seriously AND I HATE THAT I CAN'T TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY. I mean, as much as I disliked episode 15, at least it set the mood very well, unlike this one which is supposed to be brutal on an even larger scale.Īlso, is Subaru really that strong as to take over his own body just a few seconds after being possessed? Because I didn't buy it. I'd expect more edge from someone hailed as a sadist by the LN readers (regarding the author of the series), unless this episode had original/altered scenes from the source material. In sum, I now know why I like this episode less than previous ones, Betelgeuse seems incompetent. I figured she would atleast kill some of them. She fared worse than Subaru did vs mabeasts in arc 2. The same goes for that one female cultist that was lured into the woods. That would've made for a far more impactful scene, especially given Julius's comment about not being decisive enough(I lack virtue or something along those lines) Honestly even given the choice for this kind of scene, Subarugeuse should've sprouted his unseen hands and wounded or killed either Juli or Felis before the other 1 kicks his ass afterwards with the help of Subaru. Even people that didn't see it coming could predict what was coming before it would happen, as a result. I actually thought it was a mistake that we saw him run towards the forest for like 30 or 40 seconds. I actually wondered if what I was seeing was really happening because it was one of the cheapest/cheesiest twists I've seen in an anime. Having saved that for the very last minute was a very weird choice. It would've been way cooler imo if Subaru(geuse) actually killed off a lot of people, and then he gets rekt after a similar scene. Also, why didn't Emilia show up before half the villagers were killed? What the hell was that cringe plot twist at the end lmfao.
